IKEA - 50 YEARS OF BEING THERE
Putting together IKEA furniture has always been about more than furniture. It’s the mate who helps carry the sofa upstairs. The person holding the instructions upside down pretending they know what they’re doing. The borrowed ute. The passed Allen key. The moral support halfway through a flatpack meltdown. For 50 years, IKEA has been part of those moments in Australian homes, pairing Swedish design with a distinctly Aussie spirit of just getting stuck in.
This campaign is IKEA’s thank you letter to Australia. A celebration of the friendships, households, memories and little rituals built around five decades of IKEA living. Soundtracked by Hockey Dad frontman Zach Stephenson’s cover of “Thank You For Being A Friend”, the film is packed with recognisable slices of Australian life: red brick suburbia, worn out pluggers, blowflies at the back door and the characters who’ve always shown up to lend a hand. A nostalgic, distinctly local tribute to 50 years of Australians helping each other IKEA..
